Guiding AI Use in Your Course in Fall 2026: What's Changed, and What Can Instructors Do?

Faculty can work through four concrete practices — deciding which AI uses fit their course learning goals, making disclosure routine through checklists or short AI-use statements, staging assignments with drafts and feedback so student thinking is visible, and mixing AI-limited with AI-permitted assessments. Readers will also be able to think differently about detection, treating any flag, whether from a tool like Pangram or their own impression that work reads like AI, as a reason to look closer and talk with the student rather than as a conclusion. The guide is free, written by a named senior associate director at Tufts' teaching centre, and grounded in cited research with links to institutional guidelines and further reading.
