Generative AI for Grading & Feedback
Instructors and TAs can work through a six-question heuristic to decide whether and how to use generative AI for grading and feedback, supported by a summary of recent research on where AI scoring agrees with human graders and where it falls short. Readers also get concrete procedures for fine-tuning and quality-assuring a tool, alternatives such as Canvas, Gradescope, Autolab and FeedbackFruits, TA training and grade-norming strategies, FERPA and accessibility considerations, and adaptable sample policy language for three instructor/TA use scenarios.
