Develop Your Budget
This page explains the four tests every cost has to pass, namely that it is allowable, allocable, reasonable and necessary, and then applies them to salary caps, equipment, travel, consultants and subawards. It also explains when to use a modular budget rather than a detailed one. Afterwards you will be able to build a budget that stays inside the cost principles and write a justification a grants officer will not send back.
