AI in Teaching & Learning
Instructors can work through this MIT Teaching + Learning Lab page to draft a clear, prominently posted generative-AI policy for their course, with a stated rationale, using the AI Policy Planner, a step-by-step Google Doc template, or a four-option menu of acceptable-use policies. It also curates further guidance from named educators — Lance Eaton's crowdsourced AI-policy sheet, Marc Watkins' stoplight and invitation approaches, Daniel Stanford's syllabus-policy review, and Stanford Teaching Commons — alongside MIT resources for taking stock of learning goals, assessments and activities in an AI-aware course. The page and its templates and readings are free, though the planner itself is built to produce Canvas-ready policies for MIT subjects.
